    Our First Birthday

Its coming very close to our first birthday of doing the show.  Yes hard to believe but the time has flown by, both Steve and I love doing this show, its so much fun.

While we are still working the details of the birthday show out, (which will be celebrating in style) we wanted to give all you guys a little gift.  After racking our brains and having a few lemonades the idea hit us.  We love films here at ESP Radio, we watch them all the time, in fact if we could we’d probably watch them at work.  What one of the great things that we love about watching films on DVD or Blu Ray is the bonus commentary that you can listen to while watching the film.

Well thats what we want to give you, a free MP3 commentary download.  Problem is, what film?  This is where we need you help.  We need you to leave your suggestions in the comments section below.  We are open to anything and ultimately we’ll have final decision about what film.  Then Steve and I (possibly Rob as well) will record our commentary which will hopefully but full of useful little of nuggets about the film and will definitely make you laugh.

    Show Notes 25/03/2010

We did have so issues with Rob’s mic so he is really quite, apologies about that we will make sure that doesn’t happen again.

They are investigating the disappearance of Rachel Solando (Emily Mortimer), a patient who vanished from a locked room. Dr. John Cawley (Ben Kingsley), the head psychiatrist, explains that Rachel was institutionalized after drowning her three children. - [ ] Alice In Wonderland
Plot: In this extension of Lewis Carroll’s original stories, Alice Kingsley, now 19, attends a party at a Victorian estate shortly after the death of her beloved father. The formal affair, unbeknownst to Alice, is an engagement party planned by her mother and sister. Just as the arrogant and boorish Lord Hamish Ascot proposes to Alice under a gazebo and before the eyes of hundreds of snooty society-types, Alice spots a white rabbit wearing a waistcoat and pocket watch. In shock and confusion, she runs off into a maze and follows the White Rabbit through it. She eventually tumbles down a rabbit hole into Underland, more commonly referred to as “Wonderland” by its inhabitants. She had visited this place 10 years earlier, but had entirely forgotten about it. She then reunites with her childhood friends, including the Mad Hatter, who explains to Alice that they need her help in over-throwing the Red Queen, who has taken control of Wonderland from her benevolent sister, the White Queen. Alice is also told that she is the only one who can slay the Jabberwock, thedragon who terrorizes the inhabitants of Wonderland under the rule of the Red Queen. Alice then embarks on an adventure of self-discovery in the process of saving Wonderland and her friends there from both the Jabberwock and the Red Queen’s reign of terror
    Cast:
Mia Wasikowska as Alice. A 19-year-old young lady “who doesn’t quite fit into Victorian society and structure.” Her return to Wonderland “becomes a rite of passage as she discovers her voice and herself.” Alice will evolve over the course of the new film into a more empowered heroine than in previous incarnations. Alice will change size throughout the story, ranging from a height of merely six inches to a maximum of 20 feet tall.
Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter. Tim Burton explained that Depp “tried to find a grounding to the character, something that you feel, as opposed to just being mad. In a lot of versions it’s a very one-note kind of character and you know his goal was to try and bring out a human side to the strangeness of the character.” The orange hair is an allusion to the mercury poisoning suffered by many hatters who used mercury to cure felt. According to Depp: “I think he was poisoned, very, very poisoned, and it was coming out through his hair, through his fingernails and eyes.” The Mad Hatter is Alice’s ally. Wasikowska says: “They have an understanding about each other. They both feel like outsiders and feel alone in their separate worlds, and have a special bond and friendship.”In an interview, Depp stated his experience was “A dream come true” and that the Mad Hatter is like “A mood ring, his emotions are veryclose to the surface”
Helena Bonham Carter as Iracebeth, the Red Queen. Bonham Carter’s head will be increased in size by three times on screen. The Red Queen is the older sister of the White Queen. She also hates animals, and she proves this by using animals as furniture. Bonham Carter’s character is a combination of the Red Queen and the Queen of Hearts.
Crispin Glover as Ilosovic Stayne, the Knave of Hearts. He is the head of the Red Queen’s Army. Seven feet, six-inches tall, with a scarred face and a heart-shaped patch covering his left eye, Stayne is an arrogant, tricky character who follows the Red Queen’s every order. He’s the only one capable of pacifying her and calming her dramatic mood swings. “I am the martial element for the Red Queen,” says Glover. “The Red Queen has a fair amount of short-tempered reactions to things that people do, and so my character has to be quite diplomatic.” His darker side emerges in the shadows of the castle hallways.
Anne Hathaway as Mirana, the White Queen. Her character does not require digital manipulation. Hathaway summed up her character with a caption on a magnet of Happy Bunny holding a knife; “Cute but psycho. Things even out.” She is very eccentric and dramatic. According to Hathaway, “She comes from the same gene pool as the Red Queen. She really likes the dark side, but she’s so scared of going too far into it that she’s made everything appear very light and happy. But she’s living in that place out of fear that she won’t be able to control herself.” Hathaway describes her interpretation of the White Queen as “a punk-rock, vegan pacifist”, with inspiration drawn from Blondie, Greta Garbo, and the artwork of Dan Flavin.
Stephen Fry as the Cheshire Cat.  He is a dapper tabby with the ability to appear and disappear. He is all calm, casual sensuality with a seductive grin that masks his cowardice. It’s the cat’s disembodied head that first appears to Alice in Tulgey Wood after she’s been attacked by the vicious Bandersnatch. He offers to purify the gashes on her arm by licking them. Alice declines, although she allows him to lead her to the Hatter’s Tea Party where the Hatter blames him for deserting them on the day the Red Queen seized control of Underland. Using his skills and the Hatter’s coveted top hat, The Cheshire Cat later finds a way to redeem himself.
Michael Sheen as the White Rabbit. The White Rabbit works for the Red Queen, but is also a secret member of the Underland Underground Resistance. He was sent (by the Hatter) to search for Alice. Sheen stated, “The White Rabbit is such an iconic character that I didn’t feel like I should break the mold too much.”
Alan Rickman as Absolem, the Caterpillar. Rickman was filmed while recording his voice in a studio, but his face won’t be composited onto the character’s face as originally planned.
Christopher Lee as the Jabberwock. The Jabberwock is a vicious and nasty dragon that is owned by the Red Queen. An item in the film called “The Oraculum” suggests that John Tenniel’s original design for the Jabberwock will be used in the film.
Barbara Windsor as the Dormouse. Burton said that it was Windsor’s voice that sealed the deal for her role as Dormouse
Paul Whitehouse as the March Hare.
Matt Lucas as Tweedledum and Tweedledee. Burton said it was a mix of animation and Lucas. “It’s a weird mixture of things which gives his characters the disturbing quality that they so richly deserve.”
    Michael Gough as the Dodo.
Timothy Spall as the Bayard, the Bloodhound.

    - [ ] The digital economy bill will become law before Parilment is dissovled in April, the bill will allow for contoversial law which will enable rights owners of copyrighted material to cut off or restrict internet access for users who download films and music illegally.  The point of the bill is to combat privary.  The earlier highlight of the 3 strikes and ur out rule has removed but has been repalce with something else. The Liberal Democrats forced through a surprise amendment to the bill’s notorious clause 17. Instead of new powers that threatened sweeping alterations to British copyright law, the Lib Dems added a clause that gives a high court judge the right to issue an injunction against a website accused of hosting a “substantial” amount of copyright-infringing material, potentially forcing the entire site offline.

    - [ ] Overview
    - [ ] OneBigGame is a videogames industry charity initiative, probably best compared to the famous Live Aid charity initiative from the music industry: our mission is to bring together some of the most famous game designers and major development studios to create a number of unique games, specifically developed for OneBigGame, with all the proceeds going to children‚ charities around the world.
OneBigGame works together with a select number of these global charities as partners to ensure funds are optimally spent and have direct effect on the lives of children in need of help. The founders of OneBigGame feel that the timing is right for a games industry-wide initiative to raise funds and awareness for children’s charities projects around the world, simply by having people buy and play a selection of special games.
    Play so others can!

OneBigGame was founded in 2006 by a number of videogame industry veterans, who were looking to use the creative and collective power of the videogames industry for other purposes than making a profit. Together with a small group of volunteers and employee‚ they now form the core team of OneBigGame, responsible for the day to day running of the operations at its offices in Europe and the US.
Overseeing the actions of the core team is the Board of Directors, currently consisting of 5 members that are ultimately responsible for all actions of the organization and its performance. Next to this, the OneBigGame organization is supported by an Advisory Board, with a combined industry experience of over a century among them, and representing all the different disciplines that exist within the videogames industry.
OneBigGame wouldn’t exist without the help of its development partners, who play a pivotal role in the initiative by kindly donating their time to create the games that OneBigGame will publish for charity.

    Overview
OneBigGame raises funds for key children‚ charities. We do this by distributing and selling games.
You can help out by buying and playing our titles. When you download and play our games, you not only have a great time ‚ you‚ also spending your money to help less fortunate children from around the world.
Or as we like to say, Play, so others can‚ Our games are created by some of the top names in the field, (like Chime‚ creators Zoe Mode), as a charitable donation. We‚also inviting independent game creators to get involved. We will distribute these games via our casual portal at OneBigGame.org (to be launched soon), as well as through a network of gaming sites, to reach as many gamers as possible.

    Our charities
OneBigGame wants to make a fundamental difference to the lives of children faced with problems ‚ to battle the causes rather than fight the consequences. We‚therefore chosen to support two well-established charities, to maximise the impact of every dollar we raise.
    Our selected charities are:
Save the Children is the leading independent organisation, creating real and lasting change for children in need around the world. Fighting starvation, diseases and abuse and bringing education where possible, Save the Children always seeks out the most marginalized children, wherever they are found. The ultimate aim is to inspire dramatic change for children and to involve them in creating that change.

Starlight Children‚ Foundation is dedicated to helping seriously ill children and their families worldwide cope with their pain, fear and isolation through entertainment, education and family activities. Starlight‚ programs have been proven to distract children from their pain, help them better understand and manage their illnesses, and connect families facing similar challenges so that no one feels alone.
As our charity partners, these two charities are the beneficiaries of funds raised through OneBigGame. Both are trusted organizations with high organisational and fiscal efficiency, ensuring our money is well spent on the various projects they run.

    Story
    - [ ] Background:
    - [ ] The game begins in 2025. As time passes in our modern world, maintaining a full scale military becomes a burden. In a fully globalized world, the only security threat is from small scale rogue organizations against whom large forces are useless, and the fuel needed to supply increasingly mechanized armies becomes more costly. As a result, most nations armies decrease to the size necessary to defend against a “national emergency”. Furthermore, under the “Millennium Accord”, no nation’s military is permitted to leave its own borders, officially creating world peace. In their place rise PMCs (Private Military Corporations). They have two advantages: first, they compete, lowering their cost, and second, they are allowed to work for anyone, anywhere. In an unregulated global economy, the companies soon compete by less than honest means. After enough mergers, bargains and buy-outs, however, the remaining PMCs decided to put their weapons to full use. The original attacks followed a simple plan: shoot a competitor’s soldiers, lowering supply to cause them to charge more and, ultimately, go out of business. The shadow war, as it was called, grew in secret until the conflict moved into full swing, with the PMCs securing their own interests and violently fighting for contracts. It is unclear if the story will continue after release or remain static.
    Factions

The game will contain three different private military company factions:
Seryi Volk Executive Response/S.V.E.R. (pronounced “Sever”), a ragtag military force with personnel drawn from war-torn countries in the Middle East and Russia
Raven Industries, a faction with high-tech weapons and armor, comprising of West European soldiers
Valor Company, whose soldiers are equipped with more standard-styled gear. They comprise of seasoned veterans from the United States, United Kingdom and Mexico.
